On 22 December 2024, volunteers from a variety of Rotary Clubs including Belconnen, Gungahlin and Ginninderra, plus friends and family members, turned up at 7 am to prepare over 375 Christmas hampers for those in need.
Hamper Packing started weeks prior with the making of lists and ordering goods then picking up the items from Aldi. Items were taken to St John’s Primary School Hall where volunteers turned up to help unload the truck, sort out the items and pack them into bags ready to be picked up by a number of charities.
Christmas hamper packing is an annual project run by the Rotary of Belconnen. The project costs close to $30,000 with all funds raised coming from the work of volunteers at the weekly Trash and Treasure market.
Many thanks to all the volunteers, Mary Cruickshank and her band of merry elves, who made this happen and made a huge difference to many in our community.
