Service in Our Club
Our club has a very strong commitment to assisting young people in the Belconnen community and further afield. Youth programs are managed by the club's sub-committees.

Primary School Support Program
The Club offers The School Partnership Program whereby Primary Schools in the Belconnen area can seek support from our club to support their students. The support could be in the form of a “breakfast club”, sporting equipment or similar.
Schools may apply for funding by completing an application and forwarding this to youth@belconnenrotary.org.au
High School/College Scholarship Program
Students attending High School or College in the Belconnen area can apply for a scholarship of up to $1,000. There is a limit of one per annum per High School/College. It is normally presented, by a Rotarian if available, at an End of the Year ceremony. Information is being sent to High School/College principals.
Guidelines and Application Forms for 2019 will be available from August. These can be downloaded from FILES on the left after that time.
Other High School or College Programs
Rotary either offers or supports a range of programs for High School and College students. Our Club is not in a situation to support all of these though circumstances alter over time. Programs we presently offer support for together with links for further information are detailed below.
Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN)
The Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) began as an initiative of the Rotary Club of Belconnen with the first camp held in 1980. It now operates in many countries around the world.
RYPEN is a 3-day camp and program for 14 to 17 year old boys and girls. The aim is to communicate to these young people a series of ideas, problems and social experiences which will assist them in forming their own values and moral standards, and to broaden their horizons socially, culturally and academically.

Rotary Youth Exchange Australia (RYEA)
Rotary Youth Exchange Australia provides an opportunity of a lifetime for young Australians aged between 15 and 18 to study abroad.
During their exchange, students learn a lot about themselves, their host country and their values. They will also grow considerably in self-confidence, tolerance and self-reliance.

National Youth Science Forum (NYSF)
The National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) is a not-for-profit organisation that runs a number of residential programs to encourage young people in their passion for science.
It offers Year 11 students a unique opportunity to test-drive careers in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related disciplines. Applicants should be about to enter the final year of secondary education, have demonstrated an outstanding interest in science and technology, and be considering some field of science as their future career.

Rotary’s “Four Way Test” Speech Competition
This contest is a District Project which involves both our Youth as well as Rotary Clubs by promoting a public speaking competition for High School and College students in District 9710. The final of the competition will be held at the District Conference, usually in March.
The number of participants is restricted.

Rotary Adventure In Citizenship (RAIC)
Rotary Adventure in Citizenship is a joint project of the Rotary Clubs of Canberra and Woden. It provides an intensive and fun filled week-long program to help prepare young adults for full participation as citizens of Australia.
Our club is involved in hosting students from around Australia.
